Das Museum Neukölln ist eine Einrichtung des Kulturamts  Neukölln. Das Museum versteht sich als modernes, innovatives Regionalmuseum, als lebendiger Ort, an dem ein Austausch zwischen den Generationen und verschiedenen Kulturen möglich ist.  Im Mittelpunkt seiner Ausstellungstätigkeit stehen die Bewohner des Bezirks.  Wechselnde Jahresausstellungen machen den Besucher mit den neuesten Ergebnissen der Aufarbeitung der Neuköllner Regionalgeschichte und Alltagskultur bekannt. Mosaikartig vervollständigen die Jahresausstellungen unsere Wahrnehmung Neuköllns. Sie hinterfragen kritisch den Zeitgeist und verknüpfen Erkenntnisse aus der Geschichte mit Fragestellungen für die Gegenwart.
Für die Ausstellungen werden im Zusammenspiel mit Künstlern, Mediendesignern und (Theater-)pädagogen attraktive Formen der Interaktion mit dem Publikum erprobt. Mit jeder Ausstellung "erfindet" sich der Ort Museum auf überraschende Weise neu.

Zahlreiche Begleitveranstaltungen ergänzen die in den Ausstellungen dargestellten Phänomene. Hierzu wurden Veranstaltungsreihen wie z.B. „Museum in aller Munde“ und die „Woche der Menschenrechte“ entwickelt. Stadtspaziergänge, Lesungen und Vorträge vervollständigen das Programm. Im Sommer laden wir an drei bis vier Abenden zur „Weltmusik im Atrium“ ein.
Besonderen Stellenwert besitzt die Arbeit mit Kindern und Jugendlichen, spezielle Führungsangebote und Workshops werden für diese Besuchergruppe angeboten.
Das Museum unterhält umfangreiche Arbeitsbeziehungen zu den Regionalmuseen Berlins und ist im Arbeitskreis (ABR) dieser Museen vertreten. Darüber hinaus ist das Museum an zahlreichen überregionalen Projekten beteiligt und war selbst Initiator des internationalen Ausstellungsprojektes Born in Europe.

The Neukölln Museum is an establishment of the Office for Culture in Neukölln. The Museum sees itself as a modern, innovative regional museum, as a lively place , where an exchange between the generations and between different cultures is possible. The local people are the focus of its exhibition activities. Changing annual exhibitions inform the visitor about the latest results of the study of Neukölln’s regional history and everyday culture. The annual exhibitions complement our perception of Neukölln like a mosaic. They challenge the spirit of the times critically, combining lessons from history with the posing of questions for the present day.

Attractive forms of interaction with the public are tried out in the exhibitions in cooperation with artists, media designers and (theatre-) educationalists. With each exhibition, the venue Museum reinvents itself in surprising ways.

Numerous accompanying events supplement the phenomena depicted in the exhibitions. For this, series of events are developed, as for example „Museum in aller Munde“ [`Everyone’s talking about the museum´, transl.] and the `Human Rights Week´. City walking tours, readings and lectures complete the programme. On three or four summer evenings, we present `World music in the Atrium´.

The work with children and young people has particular significance; special guided tours and workshops are offered for this category of visitors.

The Museum maintains wide ranging working relationships with the Berlin Regional Museums and is represented in the Working Party (ABR) of these museums. Furthermore, the Museum takes part in numerous supraregional projects, and was itself the initiator of the international exhibition project Born in Europe.
